Hi! My name is Serena and I live in St Albert with my fiancé and son. I grew up in the Castledowns area and I am so excited to be teaching here now! I currently have my Level 1 Childcare Certification and will be working toward my Level 2. I am very close to completing my Psychology Degree. I have taken courses that primarily focus on Child Development and Learning. I volunteered in a Montessori preschool for 1 year which led to an employment opportunity for 1 year. Following that, I was the Teacher at a community based Preschool for 3 years before taking a year off for maternity leave.
In my spare time I like to cross stitch and spend time with my son. I am very close with my family, and love spending time with my niece and nephews. One of my favourite things to do in the summer is go camping and spend time at my Aunt and Uncle’s lake lot with my family. I spend the winter months watching as much hockey as I can, as I am a huge Oilers fan!
I’ve worked with kids in some capacity for most of my life, as I started volunteering in my community with my parents at a young age. I believe children learn best through play and I like to base my teaching plan around the children’s interest. I am looking forward to the rest of this year and I know we are going to have a great time as we learn, discover, and explore!
